William Carney
During my freshman year, I discovered the satisfaction of teaching myself to play the piano. I was fascinated with the endless combinations of notes, chords, and timbres.
Every chord, song, and technique I learned on the piano was derived from exploring video tutorials on YouTube.
Gradually, I gained both skill and confidence. One event led to another, and by December of 2010 I had purchased Ableton Live. Remixing artists’ songs ranging from Pink Floyd to Katy Perry. I quickly gained a following on a music-sharing site, SoundCloud.
The summer of 2011 opened my eyes to my potential in music creations. In July, I performed many shows featuring my productions. On July 15th, I was given the opportunity to open for the internationally renowned duo, The Crystal Method, in a grand yet intimate setting, The NorVA.
I was able to share my works with 1,000 fans, granting me my best live show experience. Two months later, on September 15th, I released a remix via Beat Rude Records, a label from the United Kingdom. The A&R executive of the label had seen my productions online and offered me the opportunity to remix a track and to release it on all major music distribution sites, including iTunes. On December 15th, I released my debut EP titled “Shooting Silver” though the Canadian electronic music label BPM Recordz. This Shooting Silver EP consists of three original productions and is available for purchase on over 60 stores.
To date, I have received 1,000 followers and tens of thousands of plays and downloads on SoundCloud. Additionally, five blogs have featured my music on their sites. On February 9th I will be opening for one of the world’s largest dance acts, Above & Beyond, at The NorVA in Norfolk, Virginia.
